The first Palermo Verrico championship was held at Beauport Park, Hastings in October 2006.

An important part of the Palermo Verrico Society is the chance to regularly renew friendships that more often than not started in a sporting context during the 1980's.

Since that first event the Society has held matches twice each year, alternating between courses in the West Midlands and the South with teams drawn at random competing for the Watson Plate in a Texas Scramble.

Whether the matches are held on the windswept coastal hills of Sussex, or during the wettest summer day on record in Telford, the ethos and rules of the society and the competitive streak remain constant.
